History Test ‘Mini-Series’

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Okay, so only a few people told me their thoughts on what they think the hypothetical mini-series should be about, ay? Well, I know how to deal with that, and finish homework to; kill two birds with one stone, as I always say [evil laugh]. I will be posting this history assignment on my blog as ‘discipline’ for you. If you want it to stop, you had better give me your opinion, but I don’t guarantee that it will [evil laugh].

Okay, I’m done with the evil mastermind side of me. I will be posting a history assignment, one that requires 100 topics to be explained in however many paragraphs necessary. My dad suggested that I post them on my blog, since they’ll cover a wide array of topics, and probably bring a little more attention to my blog! I’ll probably be posting 5 every school day. This isn’t punishment, just school (although school sometimes feels like a punishment.) I would like to keep hearing about those ideas about the mini-series, or I may just not do it if there isn’t enough demand for it.

Anyway, enjoy my history posts!

Oh, Spok…

The other day I watched one of the Star Trek movies made in the 80’s (or was it 90’s.) It was the one where they have to go back in time to get a whale to do something to save something else (can you tell that I didn’t watch it all the way through?), and it was so corny! Just the plot of having to go back in time to get a whale in the first place is certainly an ‘interesting’ idea, but then it just got sillier and sillier (but I must say, I enjoyed watching Spok squeezing the hippy’s shoulder [Oh, Spok...]).

Yeah, it was a pretty enjoyable night… (sigh).

Mini-Series?

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Okay, so I just thought that it would be fun to have a mini-series on this blog, shorter than the GalactiGuy posts. But, I want your opinion on what the hypothetical mini-series would be about. Now, the mini-series would be typed on this blog. It wouldn’t be filmed or podcastified, simply written. I’m looking for a genre for the series (e.g. mystery, sci-fi), but please don’t give me detail in your idea (e.g. “I think you should write about a guy named Jerry who’s secretly a superhero…”) I’d like to make up my own plot, but I do want to know what kind of theme you think I should have.

Now, of course, I want to write something both you and I want to read (and in my case, write.) For example, I probably won’t want to write a chick-flick type mini-series… not really my thing. But, please give my suggestions, and we’ll see if this whole mini-series thing is a go! Please comment and tell me what you think. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I’ve Done It!

About a week ago, I asked my dad if I could have a Facebook account. Being Papa, he decided that he would dangle that privilege over my head, saying that in order to get a Facebook I would need to earn points, 56 to be exact. Now, before I go any farther, I would like to answer a question I’ve gotten a lot lately: What do you mean by ‘points?’ Points haven’t been used much lately in my house, but my dad told me to earn points by doing chores. Go figure. Anyway, I got to work earning points, and before the week had even finished I had earned the 56 points I needed to get a Facebook. Me and my dad set it up at 11:00 P.M. on Friday, (I had been at my friend’s house until 10:00, and didn’t get home until 10:30). Yeah, I was just excited about it so I wanted to let you all know. Well, see yah.

“The Sparetire Safe” Info

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

As you can see, on the right side of my home page is a section of links marked “Pages.” Now to any of you not familiar with blogging, a page is like a post, only it’s more secluded, if you will, from the rest of the posts. To me seems to give a post a more official and special feeling to it. Right now you see two links, one marked “The Sparetire Safe Final,” and the other “The Sparetire Safe Original;” Both of these links lead to a draft of the story I wrote for Mr. Butterfield’s writing class. I named my story “The Sparetire Safe.” The Sparetire Safe, to be brief, is a fictional short (well actually about seventeen pages long); spoof, to describe it vaguely, of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

The main character is Deadlock Holmes (deadlock: a situation, typically one involving opposing parties, in which no progress can be made). It takes place in England, and… well, I guess I should just let you read it for yourself. But before you do, I just want to let you know that the “The Sparetire Safe Original” link leads to the rough draft version of The Sparetire Safe, and the “The Sparetire Safe Final” link leads to the final draft version. Enjoy!
